I was at my home last month and I was finding ways to kill time. Accidentally, I came across a DVD which my cousin purchased at Amazon UK website. Lock, Stock and two smoking barrels is the movie that I watched my meal. I have seen many movies of Jason Statham and I know some usual movie formulas. But this one surprised me a lot. The theme is very interesting with a group of friends confronting thugs, illegal drug sellers, bandits, tough usurers and debt collectors fighting with one another.
It was followed by a series of twists and action. The climax is awesome with an unbelievable series of events. What else could I expect for a total entertainment? Tom, Soap, Eddy and Bacon brought some life to their roles. They are ready to create and take advantage of any opportunity they are presented with. I like the screenplay and I thoroughly enjoyed id. With the right mix of humour and twist, there are many scenes where I was dead laughing out. When the gang loses their bet and roam without a single shilling we would feel an impending doom. What stands ahead of all is the way the goons are portrayed.
There is not much of violence. But the looks, body language and the surroundings set the rough tone. Hatchet Harry as a money lender who also runs a brothel brings a true feel. Each time when the gang faces him, I started biting my nails with curiosity. A typical Jason Statham can be seen in this movie. Cool, calm and tough with a hawk eye is what I have seen him for years. When you in groups or on a long ride, you can enjoy this movie. It is a perfect entertainment for youth and would surprise a lot. I would not call this a regular movie.
At the same time, there is nothing extra-ordinary. The way that the story unfolds before us makes the whole movie worth watching. I would never mind to watch this again if my cousins pay a visit to my home. For people below 18 years of age, adult supervision is required as I consider some scenes as unsuitable for minors.
A top quality entertainment is assured for the money you pay!
